It really is! I've been in situations before where I asked a student to place their hand on their heart. The look of shock on their face was a picture! They genuinely had no idea how ridiculously fast their heart was beating! Teaching children to recognise the signs of stress / emotional dysregulation from their body is really helpful!
Sadly, far too many of us have had students like Tom. Breaks my heart.
